This month we debuted the Maker Pro Newsletter, a subscription-based, e-newsletter aimed at informing, analyzing, educating, and catalyzing emerging business opportunities for makers. In addition to the newsletter, we’re covering the maker pro space in other ways, too. Today, MAKE CEO and founder Dale Dougherty will host a Google+ hangout on air with Greg Mader, a consultant for Open ERP. The broadcast, live and online, is set for 2pm PST/5pm EST. Tune in here.

Enterprise resource planning systems, ERP for short, include tools for managing inventory, scheduling materials and resources for production, ordering new materials when needed, and accounting systems to keep track of expenses and revenues. As Greg described it in a recent post for MAKE, “ERP systems help you understand your material costs, compute what your inventory is worth, tally the actual costs of making your products, and ultimately help you plan your investment and production decisions so your business can thrive.”

Open ERP is an open source tool with over 2,700 user-built modules. It offers sales/CRM and E-commerce integration, project management tools, fleet management, and other options.

Are you a maker ready to go to market? Are you already in production and looking for ways to manage your business more efficiently? Please join the conversation  by watching the broadcast on MAKE’s Google+ page right here and posting your comments and questions.
