Fran Blanche is a self-described “corset maker, pedal designer, engineer, artist, musician, occasional radio DJ, subpar singer, and full time goofball” from Philadelphia who has, at least in the not-too-distant past, run a bespoke guitar FX business called Frantone. So much win.

There’s a lot of interesting stuff on her blog, YouTube channel, and design writings pages, but I’m especially taken by her “Shredcam” project design. You just need a small one-handed clamp, a scrap of aluminum angle, an HD webcam, and a few odd nuts’n’bolts. And the results are pretty spectacular. [Thanks, Fran!]

Nice, but I just use a gopro, they already have a clamp for guitar necks.

for a down-the-neck view ala a later AC/DC video, I took a $1 spring clamp, drilled a hole for a 1/4″/20 bolt into one arm, screwed it to the bottom of my Kodak Playful video cam, and clamped it on the headstock. twirl around while playing and it’s vertigo-inducing.
