Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire March 23

The second annual Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire is coming right up in two weeks, on Saturday, March 23, in Hudson, Florida. They’ve got an interesting and diverse group of makers signed up already, and their call for makers is open until March 15. Seen above is an interactive installation from Urban Congo, a group of makers who will be at the Faire this year.

From their site:

Our Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faires are family-friendly events showcasing both established and emerging local “makers” – of machines, robots, DIY science and technology, urban farming and sustainability, alternative energy, bicycles, unique hand-made crafts, music and food, and educational workshops and installations and much much more!

Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire is organized by Learning is for Everyone, Inc., a non–profit education resource organization empowering families and individuals with information and networking resources at all levels of learning, at all stages of life, on the web and off. Our goal is to support the Curiosity Driven Life – to help inspire the lifelong love of learning that we all need to live intentionally, meaningfully and successfully in the 21st century.

Here is a great promo video from last year’s Faire (made by a 13-year-old videographer!), as well as the official flyer for the Faire:

OMG just two weeks! This year’s event is going to be awesome. We still have some room so if you’re in the bay area and you have something to share please sign up. The Concourse is a really cool venue with plenty of trees and wildlife, nature trails, a huge covered pavilion and indoor classrooms. I’m Chuck. Come see me at the Noise Circus and learn how to build super fun, super simple analog synthesizers and noise circuits. I’ll have kits and instruments available and plenty of stuff to play with. Yay!

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.
