DiResta: Stacking Stools

In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PT), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the GrainTrash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy shows us more of his band saw skills as he whips up a set of interlocking stacking stools designed to fit in small spaces.–Stett Holbrook

Jimmy’s Notes:
I first made the stacking stools 10 years ago. The idea was a set of four stools that will condense for a small NYC apartment or you can use all four as a coffee table, or each one as a seat. More recently I was inspired by products made from CNC routers and the way many of the concepts are designed to assemble. I redeveloped the design and a method to create them without a CNC router (because I don’t have one). Here you see the result with a large finger joint design made with a flush cut router bit.
