Now Available in the Maker Shed: The New Arduino Robot!

MFBA7 copy

The new Arduino Robot was available at Maker Faire for the first time and now we have a limited number of them available online in the Maker Shed! The Arduino Robot is the first robotics platform officially supported by Arduino.cc. It arrives fully assembled and nearly ready to run with no soldering required. Just plug in the color LCD screen, charge up the batteries (included), launch the Arduino IDE and upload the example code over the USB cable. The robot comes with a number of integrated inputs; two potentiometers, five buttons, a digital compass, five floor sensors, and an SD card reader. It also has a speaker, two motors, and a color screen as outputs, and plenty of prototyping space and TinkerKit connectors for expansion

The “brains” of the robot consists of two ATmega32u4 microcontrollers, which are also used in the Leonardo. One on the Control Board (top) and the other on the the Motor Board (bottom). If you’re just getting started with electronics and programming, you should work with the Control Board. As you become more experienced, you may want to hack / modify the code on the Motor Board.

Are you ready to take your robot even further? We also have the Arduino Robot Expansion Pack available. It includes an IR receiver, ultrasonic sensor, 2-TinkerKit LDR sensors, 3-TinkerKit LEDs (white, red and green) and 4-TinkerKit cables.

Make sure you get yours before we run out (but if we do, feel free to add your e-mail address on the product page to be notified as soon as we get more.)

What a great way to learn more about robotics and teach your kids. It is a great project and this technology is the wave of the future.

I am the Evangelist for the Maker Shed. It seems that there is no limit to my making interests. I'm a tinkerer at heart and have a passion for solving problems and figuring out how things work. When not working for Make I can be found falling off my unicycle, running in adverse weather conditions, skiing down the nearest hill, restoring vintage motorcycles, or working on my car.
