Meet Mighty Tieton Makers

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.

About 15 miles northwest of Yakima, Wash., is the town of Tieton, home of Mighty Tieton, an incubator for artisan businesses. From their site, “Mighty Tieton’s goal is to help revitalize the economy of the town and region by combining creative and professional skills, and connecting with local resources to build successful businesses involving art, design, hospitality, and recreation.” So it’s only natural that Mighty Tieton would be host to the first annual Tieton Mini Maker Faire, taking place tomorrow, June 29, from 10am to 5pm at the Mighty Tieton Warehouse. The Faire site has been featuring graphic profiles of some of the makers who will be exhibiting. Scope them below, then come meet them in person if you’re in the area!
