The first-ever Louisville, KY Mini Maker Faire has announced its call for makers. The invitation is open from now until Sept. 8. The event will be held in conjunction with the 5th Annual Nulu Festival Sept. 28.

The fair is casting a wide net for makers in science, technology and engineering; arts and crafts; food, beverages, green tech and other makerly pursuits. Presented by the NuLu East Market District Association, the 5th Annual NuLu Fest is the official after-party to Idea Festival. NuLu Fest is a free, family-friendly, fun and open-to-the-public block party. (Fun fact: Louisville is MAKE CEO and founder Dale Dougherty’s hometown.)

Exhibitors such as members of the LVL1 hackerspace, the University of Louisville Rocket Team, and craft up-cycler Good Garbage are already planning on coming.

The scheduling of the fair and the NuLu Festival caps the week of IdeaFestival (Sept. 24–27).

“Both IdeaFestival and the maker movement represent a challenge to stay curious and embrace new ways to create – all while having more fun, being more innovative and imaginative, and most of all being more open to new ideas and disruptive ways of thinking,” said Kris Kimel, IdeaFestival founder. “We are pleased to be a part of the inaugural Louisville Mini Maker Faire and welcome all makers to Kentucky.”

The Louisville Mini Maker Faire will be free to the public and family friendly. For more info, go to the Louisville Mini Maker Faire website.
