Our fourth annual World Maker Faire New York is on the horizon, taking place on September 21 and 22 at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, and we need your help spreading the good news! Joining the Street Team is easy, fun, and a great way to get involved with the Faire. And to top it off, you can earn two adult tickets to World Maker Faire worth $70. The last day to sign up is August 12, 2013. Interested?
Head to the sign-up page and follow these simple steps:
1. Fill out the form and we’ll send you a Street Team Kit. In our Maker Faire Street Team Kit you’ll find:
25 Fliers
75 Postcards
10 Business Cards
10 Stickers
5 Buttons
2. Take your goodies and post them in high-traffic venues. Please be sure to ask for permission when appropriate, as we definitely want to respect other’s property.

3. Snap photos in ALL the places you decide to post. You need a minimum of 5 different pictures from 5 different locations. Note that once you’ve captured your photos, be sure to document those places that you’ve been. We want to know the details! Remember, the Street Team Kit contains a lot of materials, so the 5 pictures from 5 locations are the minimum number to share. Please don’t use the materials in just 5 locations. Help us spread the good word!
You can get more involved on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram simply by tagging your Street Team photos using #makerfaire.
4. When you’ve finished collecting all your stories and photos, submit your information, and send your pictures to streetteam@makerfaire.com.
After you’ve completed these steps, and we’ve reviewed your hard work, we’ll send you a link for your two World Maker Faire New York tickets.

Posting a handbill on public property like in the picture is a $75-200 ticket for the first offense,$150-300 for each and every posting thereafter billed to the business name and address found on the flyer. Welcome to New York City.
Hence the reason they suggested private property areas such as bookstores, cafes, hobby shops, etc. They also said to have proper permission before placing the advertisement so you won’t get in any kind of trouble.

When are the street team kits being sent out?
I know I signed up, but I still haven’t seen my kit yet. Hoping it comes soon :)
