Anchorage’s First Maker Faire Showcases Alaskan Style

This Saturday, July 27, marks the date of the very first Maker Faire in the state of Alaska. The inaugural Anchorage Mini Maker Faire takes place from 12p.m. to 6p.m. at the Loussac Library on Denali Street.

Part of the beauty of community organized, regional Mini Maker Faires is that they really showcase the local flavor and interests, and the Anchorage Faire is no exception. Check out some of the projects that will be on display. For starters, pictured above is the Alaskan Backcountry Chairlift, a badass customized ATV made by Matanuska Thunder Films (M.T.F.). Being a mountain and snow enthusiast, I really wish I were there!
