Tomorrow: MAKE International Maker Meetup

MAKE is hosting an international maker meetup and live broadcast on Google+ tomorrow, Aug. 1 at 6pm PST to celebrate the release of Volume 35 and all things dangerous. MAKE’s latest volume is dubbed the “danger issue” and it’s about making with fire, rockets, sparks, and high-voltage fun. Truth be told the projects are screen-shot-2013-07-24-at-4-13-13-pm all really quite safe, but they can be thrilling to behold.

We’ll be talking about some of these projects and the makers behind them. We’ll be broadcasting from Chimera Arts, a new hackerspace in Sebastopol, Calif. near the MAKE offices.

We’ll check in with maker Jon Sarriugarte and his family (featured on the cover) at their studio in Oakland, Calif. where they built the amazing Serpent Twins, 50-foot kinetic mobile sculptures that breathe fire. We’ll also visit Austin, Texas with Craig Newswanger, author of the six-pack Tesla coil story in the current volume, and MAKE editor Sean Ragan. And “Dangerous” Dan Spangler, MAKE Lab fabricator, will take us through the build of the sugar rocket featured in the issue.

We invite makers and hackerspace members from all over to join us and share your creations. Everyone who RSVPs also gets a free PDF of the current volume. If you’d like to join us on air and talk about your project, send us your email address and a few words about your project in the comments once the hangout begins and we’ll do our best to get you on.
