Ken Butler pumped out the jams all day long at World Maker Faire Saturday and Sunday, on his collection of hand designed hybrid instruments. It was truly amazing to hear the sounds he could get out of a one string golf club guitar or a tennis racquet violin.

Watch through to the end of the video for a mind blowing performance on a strip of dental dam that sounded like a cornet or tenor sax. Ken credits Stan Wood of Portland Oregon for invention of this instrument.

In addition to his performance chops, Ken is an accomplished maker and artist. Each instrument is and lovingly crafted from found objects.

Kind reminds me of Yahoo Serious’s guitar in the movie “Young Einstein”.
