Get Ready for MAKE’s Take on CES

CES

MAKE_Conference_Badge-CESThis week we’re eager to share our take on 2014 International CES, the enormous exhibition showcasing the latest in consumer technology. With MAKE editors posting dispatches from the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center, we’ll be giving you MAKE’s take on all the action at CES. We’ll also have a video crew so that we can bring you demos and interviews from straight from our sources.

Of course, our coverage isn’t about which camera has the most megapixels, how the ultra high definition televisions stack up, or the battery life on the newest cell phones. We’ll be finding the stories that matter to makers. Has 3D printing gone mainstream? What’s the latest technology in drones? How hackable or interoperable is the latest generation of consumer technology? (For a sneak peek on the last question, Alasdair Allan and Sandeep Mistry reverse engineered the Estimote and posted their findings right here.)

Maker Flash Meetups

If you’re attending CES, we want to meet you! We’ll announce a few flash meetups so that you can meet MAKE editors, talk to fellow makers, chat about what you’ve seen, or even walk away with some cool MAKE swag. Follow @MAKECES on twitter or keep an eye on Makezine.com for updates during the week.

What do you want to see?

We’ll also be communicating with you and each other via social media during the show. Following @MAKECES will be your one-stop shop for all the coverage from the floor. Use the hashtag #CESMakers to take part in the conversation. You can also tweet with the MAKE editors if you want to get our perspective or send us a tip. Anna Kaziunas France (@akaziuna) will be following all the developments in 3D scanning and printing. Mike Senese (@msenese) will be tracking down the drones, mobile and wearable technology. I’ll (@MattRichardson) be finding developments with microcontroller boards and looking for maker tools for the connected home.
