SUGARMOUNTAIN

The big rock candy mountain comes to life in these images by photographers Barbara Ciurej and Lindsay Lochman, who’ve captured fantastic landscapes made from processed foods in a series called Processed Views.

Processed Views interprets the frontier of industrial food production: the seductive and alarming intersection of nature and technology. As we move further away from the natural sources of our food, we head into uncharted territory replete with unintended consequences for the environment and for our health.

Using the works of 19th century photographer Carleton Watkins as a point of departure, Ciurej and Lochman aim to investigate concepts such as consumption, progress, and changing landscapes in these works.
