Everyone at MAKE is delighted to launch the Getting Started with Intel Galileo Maker Sessions tonight at 6pm PT on Google+ Hangouts On Air. Teams of makers from all over the globe received free kits and will be coming together via Google+ to learn about and discuss the basics of Galileo, Intel’s Arduino-compatible, Linux-based development board.

Even if you don’t have a team or a kit, we’d love to see you there. Join our Google+ community, where you’ll get programming updates and be able to interact with other makers. Not only that, but you’ll be able to ask questions live during the Hangout On Air. Bookmark this post and tonight we’ll update it with the live video stream once we start broadcasting.

On tonight’s Hangout, we have four fantastic Master Makers:

Michael McCool works on IoT programming models and prototypes for Intel. He has also been at times a university professor, an entrepreneur, a book author, a computer graphics researcher, an HPC and parallel programming specialist, and a maker.

Michael Shiloh is an educator teaching Arduino as well as electronics, physical computing, open source hardware and software, digital fabrication, physics, programming, and math. Michael is a visiting lecturer at the California College of the Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute. As a member of the Arduino team, Michael coordinates outreach to educators. Michael is passionate about open source hardware and software as an educational tool.

Andrew Maxwell-Parish is a digital explorer attempting to find playful ways to make technology development more accessible. In addition to managing the Hybrid Lab at California College of the Arts, he is a Technologist in Residence for Intel at CCA and an Artist in Residence for Instructables at Autodesk’s Pier 9.

Seth Hunter is a Research Scientist at Intel Labs in a group called Open Design, which is focused on empowering creative makers. He’s a graduate of MIT Media Lab and currently a hacker-in-residence at SparkFun.

If you can’t join us live tonight, no worries! We’ll record the hangout and post it to our archives so that you can watch it on your own time. It’ll be available on YouTube and on the Getting Started with Intel Galileo Maker Sessions page.
