BlocksCAD: Easy 3D CAD for Kids & Adults, Open-Sourced

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/einsteinsworkshop/blockscad-easy-3d-cad-for-kids-and-adults-open-sou

A CAD system designeD specifically to be easy to use for a beginner.

BlocksCAD uses a simple drag-and-drop interface to create designs for 3D objects. It offers basic geometric shapes: cube, sphere, cylinder, cone, etc. Kids can combine these shapes to create their own unique toys. They assemble the building blocks of the object, like snapping together LEGOs or assembling a jigsaw puzzle. The interface is so simple, even third-graders can use it.

VEST: A Sensory Substitution Neuroscience Project

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/324375300/vest-a-sensory-substitution-neuroscience-project

We’re undertaking an audacious task: developing the most advanced sensory substitution system to-date. We’re building a wearable vest that communicates sound to the brain using the sense of touch.  We expect this will be powerful enough to give deaf individuals a new “sense” of hearing. We call it the Vibrotactile Extra-Sensory Transducer, or VEST.

The Media Show Answers The Internet’s Stupid Questions

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gandrews/the-media-show-answers-the-internets-stupid-questi

Since its birth in 2008, The Media Show has been exposing the workings of the technology and media industries that impact our lives — what is often called “media literacy” and its close cousin “digital literacy.” Our episodes have tackled everything from YouTube copyright takedowns, to billboard ads, to email chain letters.

We’re puppeteers in the tradition of Avenue Q, Greg The Bunny, or Team America World Police: we write comedy for adult Internet audiences, knowing that the elusive high school audience “watches up,” making educational shows for that demographic rare indeed. And when it comes to digital issues, plenty of adults need education as well.

Rova Paste 3D Printer

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ordsolutions/the-1st-fully-assembled-paste-food-3d-printer-unde

With this 3D printer you can make 3D Prints from almost any material that is available in a paste. Some edible and others in-edible.

You see the biggest problem with 3D printing is the material. It’s very specific and you can’t just use anything and you must order the filament. You pay for shipping and you wait to receive it. Expensive and time consuming and much more difficult to find. You can’t just drive to Walmart and buy 3D printer plastic filament…There is also a safety concern of burns, especially if used by children, because of the high temperatures required to melt the plastic used in traditional 3D Printers.

I get ridiculously excited seeing people make things. I just want to revel in the creativity I see in makers. My favorite thing in the world is sharing a maker's story. find me at CalebKraft.com
