The Custom Engraving Of Hank Robinson

HANRO1

The Dremel booth at Maker Faire New York was a pretty cool place to be this year. We already talked about the new 3D printer, and one of the artists that was there. I’d like to share the other artist that was there as well. This is Hank Robinson, an incredibly skilled custom engraver.

If you made it into the booth on Saturday you may have had a chance to see Hank working on this tribute to Robin Williams. It was donated to the “Stop Soldier Suicide” organization to help raise funds and bring awareness to suicide, a topic close to Hanks heart since he was an infantryman in the US Army for 10 years.

Hank has had a fun an interesting career so far, with some interesting projects on the horizon.

In November of 2011, I was able to take the leap and start making this a full time job.  Since then, I have made significant progress with my work and have been lucky enough to get on History Channel’s Biker Battleground Phoenix, as I did some custom engraving for a bike shop (Hatred Customs) for a build competition.  I had two bikes that were showcased at Sturgis this year one for Brian Jenkins of Hatred Customs, and the other for Paul Yaffe of Paul Yaffe’s Bagger Nation.  I am currently working with Paul Yaffee on an entire celtic bike where I am engraving almost every piece of that bike.

If you’d like to find Hank, you can reach him on the HANRO STUDIOS website or on his facebook page.

Again, I’d like to commend Dremel on bringing out skilled artists to show off the results of their tools. They’re really focusing on the part of the maker community that is most important, the maker.

Senior Editor for Make: I get ridiculously excited seeing people make things. I just want to revel in the creativity of the masses! My favorite thing in the world is sharing the hard work of a maker.

I'd always love to hear about what you're making, so send me an email any time at caleb@make.co
