The infamous Creeper is a character from the wildly popular video game called Minecraft, and it chases gamers continuously exploding nearby. Despite their devastating effects, kids of all ages love to hate the character and its logo has appeared everywhere from student sketches to intricate works of art and even tattoos. Now, a mother has created a bright glowing neon sign with the Creeper’s face on it for her daughter. The results are beautifully made.

Most people have no idea how neon signs are fashioned together, and I bashfully have fallen into that category. I’ve gazed at neon signs in bars and clubs, but never really thought about what it exactly takes to make them. That was at least until I saw this Imgur post by a Redditor who goes by the pseudonym of BeerNirvana.

Her photo documentation goes through various stages of the Minecraft project showing the progression from the initial designs to the heating of the glass and finally the electrical illumination.

The tools needed to create the neon Creeper included several torches setup in a crossfire pattern, a vacuum pump and a bombarding transformer.

Interestingly enough, neon signs like this contain small quantity of mercury. It might sound dangerous being that mercury is poisonous, but the amounts are comparable to that which is inside Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) that surround us all already. The mercury is used to produce the vibrants colors that we all know and love.

Once the mercury was dumped into the glass and sealed off, the material was burned off leaving behind a vapor that allowed for a brilliant green glow.

The end result is something that any Minecraft player would love to hang up on their wall. Gamers all around the world would rejoice to have a gift like this.
