Open-Source Chemistry: Autodesk Shares Formula for 3DP Resin

Last year when Autodesk announced their new Spark platform, they promised to make it open and accessible to users. This week, they made a huge step forward with that promise by releasing the formula for the resin that they use in their Ember SLA printer. While most manufacturers keep their resin recipes a secret – leaving their users wondering what exactly this “magic goo” is that they are are pouring into their machines – Autodesk’s announcement is a start for users having a better understanding of how their machines work. While this is just a list of chemicals and their ratios (and you might need a chemistry degree to really understand what’s going on here), those who are inspired to experiment at least have a starting point.
