Mommy

A picture is worth a thousands words, or so they say. Here’s a photo series where each image counts for just one letter. This is a fantastic sentimental gift to make for your wife, mom, or grandmother this Mother’s Day.

Who doesn’t love adorable kid photos? I think, especially when someone becomes a grandparent, every occasion where gifts are exchanged, they are very likely to receive a recent photo of their grandchild. Get creative with your photography, and incorporate some fun custom props for your child to pose with. I love the letter props used here, and of course they could spell out anything!

While I can’t seem to find the original source for this project, I think the process is self explanatory. Pre-made wooden monograms are quite popular these days, so you shouldn’t have any problems finding some at your local craft supply store. Of course, you can cut these by hand from some cardboard, or make it a little easier if you have access to a CNC machine, like a Silhouette or a laser cutter, you can make your own in whichever font you please. In fact, if you do decide to DIY, why not create an entire alphabet collection? This way you can decide to customize your message at anytime, and can reuse the same idea for personalized gifts in the future.

I spotted this idea and many more creative handmade Mother’s Day gifts over on Tips from a Typical Mom.

Have fun with your photos, and don’t forget to buy a frame to fit!
