Weekend Watch: 30 Videos in 30 days

If you haven’t been following the YouTube channels of Giaco Whatever or David Waelder over the past month, you’ve been missing something really remarkable.

Giaco is a maker who lives and works in Italy, and David has been on an extended visit to his workshop from his home in New York. Together, they decided to take on an incredible challenge: they would each release a video a day, for 30 days.

While most of the videos are project builds, there’s a few curveballs in there as well. Keeping up this degree of creativity requires you to fill your life with as many experiences as possible — they explore abandoned buildings, visit museums, they interview each other, they talk about their daily rituals, they challenge each other, and they have a lot of laughs.

Aside from just an incredible achievement, there’s a quiet undercurrent throughout the videos as well — they show a huge amount of their combined creative process — you see them laughing and goofing off, but also helping each other. There’s momentum, doubt, and vulnerability. It’s a testament to the benefits of working creatively with others. You push each other. You feed each other.

There’s a huge amount of content in this body of work. You could certainly plow through it in a weekend, it’s probably better savored. I know I will be coming back to these sixty videos again and again.
