Scott Sauer is a creative whirlwind. Wherever he is, he’s making things. Anywhere he’s spent time, he leaves little traces of himself, typically little drawings, scribbles, or sculptures made from debris. He’s a monster maker, and compulsive creator.

“I like to paint and draw in many mediums.  I love sculpting and forming objects with my hands. I work with foam, plastics, fabric, metals, wood, resin and more. My biggest joy in making is seeing others enjoy the creations.”

I’ve had the pleasure of working on a couple projects with Scott and he’s eternally optimistic and always up for anything. It takes a special kind of energy to constantly pump out stuff like Scott does, especially when balancing a day job and family life with his urge to create. His telltale style can be found around Springfield, Missouri, you know if it has tentacles and teeth, it was probably Scott.

“I’ve been drawing since I was three. I grew up marveling at the works of Maurice Sendak, Theodor ‘Dr. Seuss’ Geisel, Rube Goldberg, Dr. Demento, Weird Al Yankovic, Jim Henson, and the Sunday newspaper comic artists. I took many art classes of varying types in school and the local art museum. I learned how to make puppets at a young age. Everything I did had a cartoony style. “
