Build a Dirt Cheap Microscope Arm for Your Workbench

Positioning a USB camera for your workbench can be a frustrating task. Saulius Lukse tackled this concept with a desire to keep it cheap and simple. Instead of splurging on an expensive camera arm, Saulius opted to make a dirt cheap version using MDF.

As you can see, the design is about as simple as it gets. There are two adjustable points, which will allow you to put your camera at the height and angle you want. To see more details about how Saulius built the arm, check out his blog.

The results speak for themselves. The camera played most of the role in how crisp these images are, but you can see that the angle is quite nice, almost directly vertical.  Saulius did share one great tip he picked up while working on this project. He says that the Open Broadcaster Software is really the best solution he found to capturing his camera feed for later.
