- parts for uk
You must be logged in to reply.
Am trying to get hold of parts to make this balloon satellite, but I'm having problems matching parts from uk suppliers
I think I've found equivalents for most of the bits, and ordered a minicam off ebay, but I can't tell the exact specs of the relay, as the radioshack website is very scant on the details and I cant tell exactly which one I need from a uk supplier
Does anyone know?

- Programming the Triggering

So I've built the trigger board, Downloaded and installed the Revolution Education's free AXEpad, Installed the drivers for the USB cable, and Identified its location at COM4. I then went to makezine.com/24/ballooncam and copy/pasted the Camera_timer.bas file into AXEpad. I then hit program and I get this error message -----> " Download for PICAXE -18x on COM4 Failed. Error: Hardware not found on COM4!" Is it because I didn't attach the 9 volt battery? Well I'm going to give that a try. Otherwise please let me know if you have a solution.Posted by verbatim5813 on January 10, 2011 at 16:10:42 Pacific Time
- Project Troubles

I experienced the following problem with this project:
1. It is very difficult to solder 18 gauge wire to a breakaway header. The wire is just too big.
2. I can't get my Vista computer to find the circuit board for programming. It assigned COM9 after the driver install, but couldn't connect. I went through the process of changing the COM port number, but I don't know why. These seem like virtual COM ports anyway because I don't have 20 USB ports on my computer. I tried plugging the USB cable into each of my COM ports, but no luck. I am stuck.
Thanks for any help.Posted by thelacyzone on March 18, 2011 at 15:38:42 Pacific Time
- request a pointer: tiny soldering

I'm tackling this project, and things are going well in the initial stages. I've taken an Aries 3 keychain camera apart, and I'm looking at the shutter button's leads. I'm supposed to solder wire to those? The solder I use is wider than the space between the switch and another component on the board.
Does anyone have any advice for making these connections? Should I have a needle-narrow tip for my soldering iron?
Thanks in advance for any advice/lesson.Posted by jasonmiller2 on June 12, 2011 at 11:56:40 Pacific Time
- downloading pics from Aries camera

Is there a trick for getting pics from an Aries camera to an OS X machine? I can't find a driver, software, or anything. Is there something out there (e.g., linux CLI utility) I can use?Posted by jasonmiller2 on July 17, 2011 at 11:59:21 Pacific Time
