MAKE Flickr photo pool member Guero Loco writes – “This was a lamp I built out of 25 small electroluminescent panels and some acrylic sheet. It’s a “test project” for learning how these EL panels work and getting ideas for the next one… There are also some shots of a “barber pole” type light made with standard Lytec EL wire.” Link.

Very cool. Really digging the colour you have in the featured picture. I would have like to create a similar effect with my interactive led lanter – take a look here. But due to time restraints, I had to do what I had to do.

Yeah, not as nice color when it’s turned off — sort of a bubblegummy pink. The EL panels are dirt cheap and quite durable, although they tend to pick up dirt & smudges easily. Next time I would use sticky-back copper tape for soldering the very small EL panel leads

You said these were “dirt cheap” – where did you find these EL panels? I’d like to make a chandelier out of these. Thanks!
