The topic discussed within this paper is a construction of an accelerator with amateur gadgets. The aim was the understanding of the research capabilities of such device. Nearly all equipment was supplied from the hobby market. Some experiments  were carried out, and the results are presented; also some tips about construction are presented.

hey Phillip i am interested in doing a project on a particle accelerator also and I was wondering if you could email me some more intricate instructions on how to build it and if you could give me some advice to give me a better understanding.
my email is micahcano@gmail.com this would help me very much.

You can find this pdf download link at http://creation.freei.me . This should make things a bit easier.

I think a cyclotron design might be more efficient and cheap for the wanted effect. What my dad says is that a particle accelerator has essentially a ray tube at one end and a boron target at the other. What might be difficult is achieving a near perfect vacuum in the tube. Also, you would need to use high voltage rings or a mesh target with the end target voltage surging through it, but you need to use protons for the projectile particle because you are pretty much stuck using electricity to energize the particle, and that mostly has electrons. Other than the problems I mentioned here, it’s certainly possible.

    1. Weston says:

To create protons, simply place an alpha emitter behind beryllium foil making a neutron gun. Pass the neutrons through a paraffin wax sheet thereby producing a proton stream.

hey man thanks for the great information, im currently building an ion gun, and really found this work helpfull,
    ive also got a blog:

    http://imgoingtobuildaraygun.tumblr.com/
where im documenting everything, if you could check it out and leave some advice or just have a general look that would be great :) thanks alot
