A bell jar was placed on top of a mini hive and bees from the nucleus started to create foundation of a hive in the jar. Once the foundation is laid, the bees work in masses to form the rest of the hive.

Did the bees create the vertical seed strips on their own or were those planted there?
It doesn’t say, but I’d imagine they were seeded by the beekeeper.
Pulled the first picture up in Photoshop and blew it up enough to see. It’s standard manufactured foundation wax cut in strips and melted to the bell jar…
if the bees would of started it they would of had a bigger base like what you see in the second photo looks like the moved some of what was sticking out to widen the base in the second photo…. I miss having bees :>(
It’s too bad that fizzenergy site doesn’t cite their sources. I remember seeing this on the Propolis blog a couple of years ago. Sure enough, they’re the exact same photos.
