Interesting post from dusjagr over on Hacketeria, who reports success using a 100 mW green laser with the lens from a cheap webcam, in the arrangement pictured here, to make a projecting microscope that will accept conventional microscope slides, and is only slightly more complicated than a Planinsic-type water-drop projector. And doesn’t the laser burn or destroy the samples? 100mW sounds excessive…

not if the focal point of the beam is slightly before the sample. that way as the beam expands, it also, very efficeintly, (running off of around 2.00 volts instead of 125.) displays an image.
