What is the appeal of the Netduino? It’s always looked interesting but I’ve never understood what the advantages of using it are.
Instead of writing in C you can write in any of the .NET languages.
There is a huge community of .NET software programmers out there, and the Netduino lets them easily jump over to hardware.

For software engineers, the Netduino is a powerful electronics platform which has the same kinds of power features (like threading, event-based programming, and line-by-line debugging) offered for desktop or phone apps.
For tinkerers, it’s a fast workhorse microcontroller board with a growing community of fellow tinkerers ready to lend a hand.
Netduino is also open source, both hardware and software. You can remix the design files into your own custom creation, compile in support for your favorite bit-bang device, etc. Since Netduino’s C# programming language is object oriented, you can make sophisticated projects as easily as simple ones. And finally, Netduino is electrically compatible with most Arduino shields; when you buy add-on expansion shields, you get great new features…and support maker-manufacturers.
