Cool mechanical toy made by Thingiverse user Zach Redding for his little brother, who requested “a ninja star where the blades pop out.” I want one water-jet-cut from stainless steel.

    I want one that is tension spring loaded, such that the act of throwing it is what extends the blades… so they’re safe to handle but deadly when thrown :-)

    Didn’t the weapon from the 1980s B-movie Krull do the same thing?  (SPOILER: While the Krull weapon was a bit larger it was about equally useful.)

       Ah, yes.  The “Glave,” if memory serves.  I remember the knife but have largely forgotten the movie.   I think there was a big evil castle that was never in the same place on two consecutive days or something.  Probably had a soundtrack by Tangerine Dream, too…. =]
