The world of Arduino microcontrollers can be a challenge to break into — but not if you’re equipped with this kit, which includes all of the hardware you need to work through each of the experiments in Getting Started with Arduino, the popular introductory book by Arduino project co-founder Massimo Banzi. To make it even easier, all of the components are solder-free, except for the DC plug and battery pack – just plug, play, and learn. Not only does the book go over all of the Arduino’s features, it also gives a good overview of basic electronics. After completing this kit, I found myself ready to take on all sorts of physical computing projects.

Make’s Arduino book is in most RadioShacks now, along with the RS Uno Arduino, Arduino Mega, and some shields (Proto, Ethernet, SD, and Motor Control so far).

Count me In on this one. I have to work around devices that use custom pc boards and sensors, and not only would I would love to be able to know how they function for my own purposes and creations, but to be able to communicate with the people who actualy develope them at my office.

I looked up from my life… and realized that everyone seems to have ditched the PIC’s and gone over to this Arduino stuff. Only done a few PIC jobs, but I’ve done a fair amount with Atmel. I’ll have to check this out.

I have been trying to teach myself embedded processing (PIC family) for years, and keep hitting a brick wall. From what I have read, the Arduino microcontrollers are easier to learn and integrate with projects.
