Check out this elaborate page-turning Rube Goldberg machine from Brooklyn area maker Joseph Herscher. The inclusion of fire and trained guinea pig really makes this one stand out. [via PSFK]

Hilarious. I liked the creative use of the hamster. :-D

  4. The Hadars says:

Amazing; however cute is the hamster, we think it was mistreated

  5. Shoccer says:

How’s he going to turn the next page?

    1. The Mouse says:

      My thought exactly. :)

A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. I believe that you need to publish more on this subject matter, it may not be a taboo matter but generally people do not speak about such topics. To the next! Cheers!!

OUTSTANDING!!! As an old Engineer that has been accused of designing one to many ‘Rube Goldberg’ set-ups…I love it.

  9. Bruce says:

I just don’t know what to say, but I like it. Bruce

  16. neverending1 says:

I don’t think I’d want this in my apartment. It looks dangerous with the fire and gasoline next to each other. No way. And the poor hamster jumped when the balls hit the side.

  17. wheresmytbackandotherstories says:

This is cool until you need to turn the next page. But then again, that’s why it’s just called Page Turner and not Pages Turner, is that it?

  18. Real Estate Bangalore says:

Wow, that’s just great! All that for one page? I don’t know if that’s worth dropping my macbook!

I’m with you there. I don’t care what kind of laptop you have, I don’t think it’s worth the risk of getting totally screwed if something goes wrong. I’m sure they had some soft landing pad, but I still wouldn’t volunteer MY computer for it.

    Innovation rules!
I love it when we use our vast intellect to create rather than destroy.

  24. pursuenaturalny2008 says:

Hamsters and machines. Oh my! Innovation is exhilarating. Lets hope this has a patent application.

  25. Hontz says:

How many attempts, approximately, did it take until you made it work the first time? And what was the most difficult part to design?

  26. beyondanomie says:

    Glorious! :D

  27. millodello says:

What I like is the complete lack of “software”. A, 2.0, version won’t make this one obsolete. Well done.

  28. blackshepherd says:

I’m sorry sir, but that’s just not possible! Nonetheless…IMPRESSIVE…I’m always most impressed by things that are not possible appearing to happen at the behest of fevered minds…Therefore, I know who you work for but I’m not talkin’…are you shittin’ me?

  29. ramiungarthewriter says:

I do enjoy a good Rube Goldberg machine. And this one was destructively funny.

  30. WoodRtist says:

That is so funny, someone spent some good time to figure all that out.
    Great post.

That is awesome! The only thing that would make it better is if it set itself back up.

Love it! Especially the duct tape and the guinea pig.

  49. cuttingedgecreativity says:

Nifty, but to bad it’s pretty inefficient, since he’d need to set that up for every page. It also takes too long for the page to turn. Not to mention, ouch about the laptop dropping on the ground!
