I wish I could see this beautiful origami holiday tree at the American Museum of Natural History in person. Five hundred origami sculptures were created by volunteers to adorn the 13-foot tree. Each piece reflects an actual object or specimen found in the exhibit hall.

The theme of this year’s 13-foot tree is Discovery, featuring ornaments that evoke a dinosaur dig, the Museum’s exhibition Race to the End of the Earth, and the 10th anniversary of the Rose Center for Earth and Space.

Of course, the space geek in me is especially fond of the space-themed pieces. [via @RobertPearlman]
