Machete Designs Heirloom Tomato Pincushion

This gorgeous handmade red, yellow, and orange heirloom tomato pincushion updates the classic sewing essential in a very fresh incarnation. Anna of Machete Designs uses organic cotton yarn and a knitting loom to create her pieces, stuffing them with a bottom layer of dried beans for weight, and adding polyfil for loft.

They're the perfect size (about 3" across) for a project's worth of pins, but take up hardly any space in a small craft room or sewing table. The cushion is beautifully finished with a hand-stitched felt leaf topper, and the heirloom-style color gradation is super appealing.
