Never heard of butter tarts?!?
Oh, I could cry for you.
Butter tarts are a little bit of Canadianna! Up here you can get them everywhere – even convenience stores have them by the cash. Early Canadian settlers started baking them because the long, harsh winters meant that no fruit was available for months on end. And nothing keeps the chill out like butter and sugar! Enjoy!
Never heard of butter tarts!! You poor dear!
I made my first butter tarts in Family Studies class (aka Home Ec) growing up in Ottawa. But now that I am south of the border, they are no where to be seen or heard of! Pity!!!
Butter tarts; rich delicate and delicious are purely canadian… Like Date Squares.
It should also be noted that every traditional family home in Canada has their own “secret” butter tart recipe. Well at least in mine we do, passed down through the generations.
And not only do butter tarts come in one flavour, there is the plain jane typical type, maple pecan, lemon curd, raspberry heaven and sometimes wild blueberry if one is lucky enf to live in a Northern area where the wild blueberries grow.
