Another easy way to get design onto stamp in reverse is to use tracing paper and 4B or softer lead in mechanical pencil.
First, Draw you design that will fit on the block you’ll be using.
Second, Trace it using a soft lead (4B, 6B) pencil or mechanical pencil.
Third, Place lead side down onto block and then gently rub (burnish) the back of the tracing paper making sure not to move it. You can use smooth surface like small spoon or rounded end of a pen. If you move or wiggle the paper the design will smudge and be hard to capture details.
Fourth, If you plan to take a while cutting (not all in one go) you can then use a permanent fine line marker to retrace the design on the block.
Note: I like using the Speedball Linoleum Cutters with the white carving blocks / erasers
Once upon a time I was cutting 5 or 6 stamps a week. Some examples can be seen on my OR Post pages and some mORe
