A lot of what I love about the holidays is the vintage imagery that seems to abound. Here are some of my favorite vintage-inspired gift ideas. Everyone could use a spare notebook, and the recycled book journals by Tyler Bender Book Co. are among the loveliest I’ve seen. If you need a last-minute gift for a stylish friend–or something cute to wear to a party–you really can’t go wrong with a fascinator. BurdaStyle features a tutorial by Squirrellypoo which shows you how to make your own. Customizing a fascinator with feathers, beads, or even old costume jewelry is the best part! I actually bought these “Parlour Lace Earrings” from Nous Savons at a craft fair recently, and have been getting comments on them ever since. They combine clippings from vintage lace with delicate brass hooks for a truly one-of-a-kind look. Everything in her shop is lovely and the quality is great. Poodlebreath creates gorgeously original porcelain sculptures–she says you can hang jewelry from this one, but I don’t think I could bear to. Guys are always tough to shop for–one of Maxine Dear’s belt buckles made from vintage children’s book covers is a safe bet, and unique to boot.
