CRAFT: Make Space for Crafting

This weekend is the last of our series of round ups for Crafting on the Go.
One of the questions we asked our favorite crafters was:

How do you organize your craft space to allow for quick pick-up-and-go crafting? (Possibly for workshop teaching?)

Find out the answers from the crafters we’ve profiled so far below. You can visit their Craft Spaces Q&A by clicking on their name. (Pictured above are Jessica Wilson’s craft supply jars.)

Jennifer Perkins: I keep my jewelry teaching supplies in a suitcase. If I had to pack those items up every time I taught I would loose things regularly and never be prepared for class.
Fredda Perkins: Most of what I do does not lend itself to pick up and go crafting. I have a crafting group I participate in and for that I usually have a little embroidery project I work on that I keep in a tote.
Jessica Wilson: Having the jars really helps and having an assortment of small empty suitcases and cigar boxes helps as well. They are pretty and make a traveling crafty table more interesting and when I get home, I can stack them all up on top of each other and put away (ahem) when I have the time to.
Julie Jackson: I’m a big believer in blueQ totes. Since they did some products for Subversive, I can always add a set of their totes to my resale order. That way I can share them with friends, too.
Nikol Lohr: I keep all of my knitting WIP in separate bags, so I can quickly grab whatever project I want when I’m about to hop into a passenger seat.

Something I have found that works really well are these little multi-level plastic totes you can get at Target – they come in a few different sizes, have a handle, and offer three spaces that snap together to form one tote. Pretty cool stuff and pretty easy for crafts on the go!
PS: The jars are much prettier though!
