Crafting on the Go: Organizing Craft Supplies #2

During our Craft Spaces interviews, we posed a couple of questions relating to crafting on the go to our spotlighted crafters. One of the questions we asked was:

When you have to craft on-the-go (while you’re traveling, in the carpool lane, at family activities) how do you organize your craft supplies?

Vickie Howell: I actually don’t really do this. I try and keep each genre of craft supplies in the same general area but since my “Koffice” is, ahem, cozy, it never takes long to whip through it and throw together whatever I need in a rush.
Dolin O’Shea: I have a few see-thru mesh zip top bags, that I store the smaller more portable projects in. Everything I need for each project is in the bag, so it makes grabbing a project on the go very easy.
Shannon Okey: I rely on two main things: my Lexie Barnes backpack (it has a million pockets, so I can fit just about everything in for easy accessibility) and my GoKnit pouch, which lets me knit even if I’m walking around.
Jenny Hart: I keep a simple cotton bag filled with lots of floss and just toss my pointy things inside: a pincushion with my embroidery needles, and some scissors. Cram a hoop down the side, sometimes a pencil and include whatever I’m currently working on. I’m set to stitch.
CatheHolden If I were more on-the-go with crafting, I would repurpose a vintage suitcase or two just for crafty travel, and fill with cigar boxes and tobacco tins full of supplies and tools. I’m not much for plastic organizers when old pieces (labeled well) can work as well and are so much more beautiful to look at.
Lee Meredith: My standard on-the-go craft is knitting, and I knit mostly small accessories, so generally I just need my ball of yarn and needles, and sometimes a pattern sheet. So that usually fits in my purse, but sometimes (longer trips, or if I’m about to finish a project) I’ll bring a separate bag with multiple projects so the yarn doesn’t get all tangled with my other purse items.
