Crocheting a Yurt

Craft & Design Yarncraft

Kate Pokorny is crocheting a yurt from woolminiyurt. Not a mini yurt, although she makes those too, but a full-size structure that will support itself and provide shelter. Her project’s called Yurt Alert, and you can get involved at Kate’s website and support her through Kickstarter, where there’s also a neat video about her project. [via ReadyMade]

    Hi All,
Thanks so much again for supporting my yurt project with this post. I wanted to update everyone that we’ve sourced the rest of the wool for the yurt from Mack Hill Farm in Marlow, NH (www.mackhillfarm.com). We had an amazing day up there yesterday learning about Icelandic Sheep (Pics and info here: http://yurtalert.com/2010/02/08/heaven-is-a-cold-day-at-the-farm/) and we’re one more step closer to completing the project! It’s not possible without everyone online reading and caring about this wild idea.
    Thanks again!
    Kate
