Decorative Gourd Roundup

Decorative Gourd Roundup

You may have started to notice bins of orange, white and green bumpy things showing up at your local supermarket. Yes, it is officially decorative gourd season!

In honor of this, I have rounded up some decorative gourd crafts, though the ones in this post all use dried variety. In the past I have found these at Michaels, but you may also have luck finding them at your local farmer’s market.

Gourds will have seeds and guts inside, even when dried out. If you plan on cutting into them, be sure to wear proper safety gear (mask, goggles, etc). You can still make some interesting projects without having to use any carving tools. For starters, you may want to just use paint or even a bit of wood burning.

I hope this roundup inspires you to take a second look at the humble gourd! The links below the images will take you to the page where I found these lovely projects. Some are for sale, some have tutorials, and others are just for admiring.
