Need another fabulous reason to join us May 30th and 31st at Maker Faire Bay Area 2009? Not just one fashion show, but two! On Saturday, May 30th, Swap-o-Rama-Rama is hosting a fashion show of cleverly refashioned clothing at 4:45 p.m., followed immediately by the Pandora’s Trunk fashion show at 5:45.
Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a giant clothing swap and series of do-it-yourself workshops that encourage creative reuse through the recycling of used clothing. Bring any sized bag of your unwanted clothes, pick out some new wares, and then work with crafters to sew, embroider, silk screen, and make new from old. All materials provided. BYOI (imagination, of course)! The fashion show will feature only remade clothing. Prepare to be inspired!
Pandora’s Trunk, a crew of fiery independent designers, will mesmerize you with a special narrative fashion storytale set to live music, featuring top-notch professional design talent from the Bay Area and beyond. Keep your eyes peeled for the return of one of SF’s prodigal designers: Lara Grant will be taking a break from hacker school in New York to create and showcase a pair of sonic dresses. Prepare to be amplified!
Get your tickets for the World’s Largest DIY Festival, and we’ll see you there!

I’m a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.

I was an editor for the first 40 volumes of MAKE. The maker movement provides me with endless inspiration, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. Covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made.
