Fixing the Maker’s Notebook Bookmark

Gareth @ MAKE writes:

If you’ve had your Maker’s Notebook for awhile, you’ve likely ended up with a tassel where the bookmark used to be. The ends of the ribbon markers are not finished or glued and so they fray over time. This is easily fixed. Just dab little beads of white glue along the leading edge (after trimming the fray). It’ll dry clear and your bookmark will remain intact.

I’d fix the Maker’s notebook by not buying it. It’s more expensive then a moleskine, and apart from a largely useless reference guide, doesn’t add anything besides price.
You can buy it so much cheaper on amazon and such, but you don’t get any of the stickers and other extras – so there’s no point to it.
I love ORA and Make as much as the next guy, but seriously, the maker’s notebook should be (pardon the pun) shelved.

Most ribbon are partially synthetic,so a quick (I mean really quick) pass through an open flame (I usually use a match) will melt the edge and keep the ribbon from un-ravelling also.

I don’t really know why someone would have clear nail polish but not a bottle of glue, but if that’s ever the case, clear nail polish works, as well. It’s not as washable as (washable) white glue, and serves the same purpose.
