Hand-Woven QR Code Tapestries

encoded-tapestry-1

Artist Guillermo Bert created a series of traditionally hand-woven tapestries called Encoded Textiles, which have QR codes incorporated into their designs that contain information about the indigenous culture that the textiles are based on.

By combining high-tech soft-ware and industrial processes with indigenous arts and loom techniques, and by translating ancient narratives into modern tapestries, I hope to highlight the struggles of indigenous peoples attempting to restore their culture in a globalized world.
