Craft kits are a perfect gift for crafting newbies or crafting veterans. Having all the supplies you need to complete a project in one handy gift is priceless, and when you give the gift of a kit you give the gift of creative expression along with the project they will complete. Here are a few of our favorite craft kits for holiday gift giving.
For the Knitter:
I love Lee’s designs of ice cream cones with big, yummy scoops on top. They make brilliant headbands and earmuffs. Choose your scoops and you’re all set!
For the Sewer:
These kits include everything you need to put together a gorgeous variety of bags, right down to the embellishing pieces. Thanks, Sarah!
I love these log pillows from My Imaginary Boyfriend. You can sew your own with the kit, which includes hand-screenprinted wool felt, embroidery floss, needle, and instructions on how to make the pillow. All you need to add is stuffing!
For the Hand Stitcher:
It’s hard not to laugh out loud at the selection of patterns from Subversive Cross Stitch. Kits are available with basic supplies (fabric, floss, pattern) or full supplies (basic + hoop and needles).
Becky discovered these fantastic crewel kits at Urban Craft Uprising this weekend. The designs are rich and interesting, and the kits come with everything you need to stitch up the final project.
For the Needle Felter:
Consider this like opening a big box of crayons as a kid. The Needle Felting Booster Pack from Moxie comes with 15 rich colors of wool roving and 5 single 36 star needles, 5 single 38 triangle needles and a needle information sheet.
For the Kids:
Last year, I wrote about the Eye Can Art Printmaking Kit
. My daughter and I had a blast making prints with this kit. I loved that it had, literally, everything we needed to just grab the can and go. The printmaking process was fascinating, and we had plenty of supplies to make tons of prints. I met the Eye Can Art folks at Maker Faire back in May and got to see their other kits as well. I’m dying to try out the Wax Drawing kit next!
The yummy colors and fun retro styling of these vintage flower loom kits from Cathy of California make this a kit I’ve got on my own wish list.
