How-To: Acorn Napkin Rings

Banner Thanksgiving

We have buckets and buckets of acorns that are falling from my parent’s trees. So I’ve come up with a crafty way to use them up and make our Thanksgiving table pretty as well. These acorn napkin rings are the perfect way to spice up your table for fall.

Materials

Acorn tops, about 20 per napkin
Paper towel tube or wrapping paper tube
Scissors
Hot glue gun & glue
Spray paint – any color
Newspaper

Directions

Acornrings Step1
Step 1: Cut your paper tube with scissors to your desired width. If you plan to put only 1 row of acorns, cut a 1/2″ across off each tube. If you plan to have 2 rows of acorns, cut it close to 1″ thick. To cut the tube, you can bend it in half a little, enough to get your scissors around. It will make it bend slightly, but once it’s completed with acorns, it will form a circle again.

Step 2: Place a generous layer of hot glue onto your paper tube. Apply about 1″ of glue across, enough to place four acorns.
Acornrings Step3
Step 3: Add your acorns to the glue. I like to do four at a time. Press them in and make sure they stick. Continue around until the entire tube is filled with lined-up acorns. If you have some that don’t fit, you can overlap them slightly, or try to size them with big or small acorns.
Acornrings Step4
Step 4: In a well-ventilated area, lay down your newspaper and set your acorn rings on top. Spray each one with your paint. I chose a glitzy gold color, fun for fall.
Acornrings Step5
Step 5: Once the paint has dried completely, let them sit overnight, then slide them onto your napkins. Now they’re ready to fancy up your dinner table for fall.
