In much the same way that three off-the-rack skirts in the same size from three different companies can all have completely different measurements, sewing patterns can also have a ton of variation. Even when using the measurement key provided on the back, some companies skew larger, while others might be smaller or more true to size. This tutorial for cutting out the right pattern size from Tilly at Tilly and the Buttons is filled with helpful tips for comparing your measurements to the the actual measurements of a pattern, then choosing the size that will require the least amount of alteration work.
