I do a lot of embroidery, but I rarely consider methods that go beyond the usual hand-stitches on flat surfaces. That’s why I find these hand-pleating and hand-smocking tutorials from Marie Grace Designs to be so fascinating—it’s like embroidery design in 3D!

While the projects don’t look like they’re for the faint of heart or the short of patience, the results certainly are complex and beautiful.
