For anyone who’s been on the fence about the value of cross-stitchery in the modern world, go ahead and take a look at this amusingly insightful talk that the infamous Jamie ‘Mr X Stitch’ Chalmers recently gave at a TEDxBedford event back in November 2014 called “Why X Stitch is important.” And for the cross-stitching converted, here’s a great video to watch while you stitch!

Cross-stitch is an amazing thing, it is a very simple stitch to do and yet it has a repetition that before long slows you down and brings you into a kind of meditative state. That, combined with the art of creativity makes it hugely powerful and turns out to be something that’s really quite remarkable.

Pretty inspiring stuff from “The Kingpin of Contemporary Embroidery” himself!
