Add some serious texture to your sewing projects and quilt blocks with this shell smocking tutorial that TeresaDownUnder shared as part of a quilt block in her textured 4-patch quilt series on Sewn Up!

TeresaDownUnder’s tutorial shows the shell smocking technique in the context of a 4-patch quilt block, but the same basic process can be applied to any sewing or fashion project that you’ve got in mind. (I think it’d look great on the bodice of a stretchy knit dress or on the outside fabric of a clutch.)
