    If you use a brayer to apply the paint or ink to the rubber stamp it works a lot better.

    How about pressing the leaf onto a juicy stamp pad, or alternatively, about brushing paint on it, and then pressing it down onto the rubber. Less work than tracing those many ferny fingers.
